Dear Parents,

As Chairman of Governors it is my pleasure to extend to you and your child a warm welcome to Horndean Infant School.  Governors are proud that the school has an open and welcoming ethos.  You will always be made welcome and I am confident that your child will enjoy his/her time with us.

At Horndean Infant School we believe in partnership.  We know that the relationship between parents and school is very important to help your child achieve their full potential.  If you or your child should have any concerns please do share them with us so that the issue can be resolved.

I encourage you to support the school and your child’s education.  There are a number of ways in which parents can help the school.  These range from activities in school time such as reading, cooking or library, to supporting PTA events either directly by being part of the PTA committee or indirectly by attending the events throughout the year.  Of course the most direct way you can help your child is by taking an interest in what they do at school, providing positive encouragement and valuing their efforts.

This web site contains much information about the school and what you can expect your child to be doing but if you find that you have questions please arrange to talk to your child’s teacher or Mrs Greenhalgh.  I am sure they will be able to answer any questions that might arise but if you should wish to raise any matter with Governors please contact myself or the vice chairman.  The school office will put you in touch with us if you have any difficulty reaching us.

I look forward to seeing you in school at one of the formal or informal events throughout the school calendar.

Yours sincerely,
Alan Williams, Chairman of Governors

An Annual Governors’ Report is sent to parents normally in the Summer Term. This report details the activities of governors during the school year.

Governors are elected for a 4 year period.
